Buddha Purnima

Buddha Purnima, also known as Buddha Jayanti, is an auspicious day that marks the birth anniversary of Prince Siddhartha Gautama who later became 'Lord Gautama Buddha'. He was founder of the Buddhism religion. It is also celebrated in South and Southeast Asia as Vesak which also acknowledges the enlightenment and death of the Buddha. It is also believed that on this full moon day, Mahatma Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Mahatma Buddha sacrificed his body in Kushinagar on the day of Mercury Purnima.
Hindi Translation
बुद्ध पूर्णिमा, जिसे बुद्ध जयंती के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, एक शुभ दिन है जो राजकुमार सिद्धार्थ गौतम की जयंती का प्रतीक है जो बाद में 'भगवान गौतम बुद्ध' बने। वह बौद्ध धर्म के संस्थापक थे। यह दक्षिण और दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया में वेसाक के रूप में भी मनाया जाता है जो बुद्ध के ज्ञान और मृत्यु को भी स्वीकार करता है। ऐसी भी मान्यता है कि इसी पूर्णिमा के दिन महत्मा बुद्ध को गया के बोधि वृक्ष के नीचे ज्ञान की प्राप्ति हुई थी। महात्मा बुद्ध ने बुध पूर्णिमा के दिन ही कुशीनगर में महाप्रयाण यानी देह त्याग किया।
यथाऽऽगाराद्धूमायति आदित्यो रश्मिभिः तथा।
गतदोषाद्गतक्लेशाद् बुद्धत्वाय प्रकाशते॥
English Translation
Just as the sun shines forth through its rays when smoke rises from a house, so does one attain Buddhahood and shine when freed from defilements and afflictions.
Hindi Translation
जिस प्रकार सूर्य अपनी किरणों से घर से निकलते हुए धुएं को दूर कर देता है, उसी प्रकार जब कोई व्यक्ति अपने दोषों और क्लेशों से मुक्त हो जाता है, तो वह बुद्धत्व को प्राप्त होता है और प्रकाशित होता है।

बुद्धं शरणं गच्छामि । धर्मं शरणं गच्छामि । संघं शरणं गच्छामि ।
English Translation
I take refuge in the Buddha. I take refuge in religion. I take refuge in the Sangha
Hindi Translation
मैं बुद्ध की शरण लेता हूँ। मैं धर्म की शरण लेता हूँ। मैं संघ की शरण लेता हूँ।
