Happy Holi

Holi, popularly known as the 'Festival of Colours', is celebrated on the full moon day falling in the month of Phalguna (March). Like many other festivals in India, Holi also signifies the victory of good over evil. This festival has started from Erich of Jhansi in Bundelkhand. It was once the capital of Hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu's sister Holika had a boon that she could not be consumed by fire.Hiranyakashipu ordered that Holika sit in the fire with Prahlad in her lap. Holika got burnt while sitting in the fire, but Prahlad survived. Holi is lit on this day in the memory of God devotee Prahlad.

होली, जिसे 'रंगों का त्योहार' के रूप में जाना जाता है, फाल्गुन (मार्च) के महीने में पड़ने वाली पूर्णिमा के दिन मनाया जाता है।भारत में कई अन्य त्योहारों की तरह, होली भी बुराई पर अच्छाई की जीत का प्रतीक है। इस त्योहार की शुरुआत बुंदेलखंड में झांसी के एरच से हुई है। ये कभी हिरण्यकश्यप की राजधानी हुआ करती थी। हिरण्यकशिपु की बहन होलिका को वरदान प्राप्त था कि वह आग में भस्म नहीं हो सकती। हिरण्यकशिपु ने आदेश दिया कि होलिका प्रह्लाद को गोद में लेकर आग में बैठे। आग में बैठने पर होलिका तो जल गई, पर प्रह्लाद बच गया। ईश्वर भक्त प्रह्लाद की याद में इस दिन होली जलाई जाती है।
अग्निं प्रज्वलितं वन्दे जातवेदं हुताशम् ।
हिरण्यवर्णममलं समिद्धं विश्वतोमुखम् ॥
English Translation
I bow to the fire that is luminous, the knower of all, golden, full of wealth and the seer of the world.
Hindi Translation
जो प्रकाशमान है, सबका ज्ञाता है, सुनहरा, धन से परिपूर्ण और संसार का दृष्टा है उस अग्नि को मैं प्रणाम करता हूँ

सूर्य संवेदना पुष्पे, दीप्ति कारुण्यगंधने।
लब्ध्वा शुभं होलिकापर्वेऽस्मिन कुर्यात्सर्वस्य मंगलम्।।
English Translation
Just as the sun gives light, compassion gives birth to compassion, flowers are always fragrant, in the same way may this coming festival of Holi be happy for you every day, every moment.
Hindi Translation
जिस तरह सूर्य प्रकाश देता है, संवेदना करुणा को जन्म देती है, पुष्प सदैव महकता रहता है, उसी तरह आने वाला हमारा यह होली का पर्व आपके लिए हर दिन, हर पल के लिए मंगलमय हो।

होलिका की अग्नि में ईर्ष्या, द्वेष, बुराई जलकर भस्म हो।
