Dhanteras also known as Dhanatrayodashi, is the first day that marks the festival of Diwali in India.
It is celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin.
Goddess Dhanlakshmi is worshipped for prosperity and happiness.
People also clean and decorate their homes with Rangoli and diyas for marking the start of the festivities
and announcing the arrival of Lakshimiji to their homes.
Every house looks bright and beautiful and is bejeweled with decors and colored lights.
The festival is celebrated as Lakshmi Puja which is performed in the evening when lamps
of clay (Diyas) are lit. Bhajans, devotional songs in praise of Goddess Lakshmi,
are sung and Naivedhya of traditional sweets is offered to the Goddess.
They stick the Goddess Lakshmi’s ready-made footprints to come back with wealth and prosperity.
After sunset, by providing rose or lotus garland, sweets, ghee diyas, dhoop deep, agarbatti,
camphor and so on, individuals give puja to the Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh for wealth, knowledge and well-being.
Dhanteras is the worship of lord Dhanvantari.
Lord Dhanvantari, according to Hindu Mythology,
emerged during Samudra Manthan, holding a Kalasha full of Amrit in one hand and the sacred text about Ayurveda
in the other hand.He is considered to be the Vaidya of Gods.
The main entrance is decorated with colorful Rangoli
designs to welcome the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity.
On the night of Dhanteras, diyas (lamps) are ritually kept burning all through the night
in honor of Lakshmi and Dhanvantari.
It is believed that Dhanteras is an auspicious day to make important purchases,
especially gold , silver, and utensil products.

धनतेरस को धनत्रयोदशी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, यह पहला दिन है जो भारत में दिवाली का त्योहार है।
यह अश्विन के हिंदू कैलेंडर महीने में कृष्ण पक्ष (अंधेरे पखवाड़े) के तेरहवें चंद्र दिवस पर मनाया जाता है।
सुख-समृद्धि के लिए देवी धनलक्ष्मी की पूजा की जाती है।
उत्सव की शुरुआत को चिह्नित करने के लिए लोग अपने घरों को रंगोली और दीयों से सजाते हैं
और लक्ष्मीजी के उनके घरों में आगमन की घोषणा करते हैं।
हर घर उज्ज्वल और सुंदर दिखता है और रंगीन रोशनी से सजाया जाता है
त्योहार को लक्ष्मी पूजा के रूप में मनाया जाता है जो शाम को दीपों के समय की जाती है
मिट्टी के (दीये) जलाए जाते हैं। देवी लक्ष्मी की स्तुति में भजन, भक्ति गीत,
गाये जाते हैं और देवी को पारंपरिक मिठाइयों का नैवेद्य चढ़ाया जाता है।
धन और समृद्धि के साथ वापस आने के लिए देवी लक्ष्मी के तैयार पदचिन्हों को चिपकाते हैं।
सूर्यास्त के बाद गुलाब या कमल की माला, मिठाई, घी के दीये, धूप दीप, अगरबत्ती,
कपूर और इसी तरह, लोग धन, ज्ञान और कल्याण के लिए देवी लक्ष्मी और भगवान गणेश की पूजा करते हैं।
धनतेरस भगवान धन्वंतरि की पूजा है।
हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार भगवान धन्वंतरि,
समुद्र मंथन के दौरान उभरा, एक हाथ में अमृत से भरा कलश और आयुर्वेद के बारे में पवित्र पाठ
दूसरी ओर। उन्हें देवताओं का वैद्य माना जाता है।
मुख्य द्वार को रंग-बिरंगी रंगोली से सजाया जाता है।
धन और समृद्धि की देवी के स्वागत के लिए डिजाइन बनाए जाते हैं।
धनतेरस की रात, दीये (दीपक) पूरी रात जलते रहते हैं
लक्ष्मी और धन्वंतरि के सम्मान में
ऐसा माना जाता है कि धनतेरस महत्वपूर्ण खरीदारी करने के लिए एक शुभ दिन है,
विशेष रूप से सोना, चांदी और बर्तन उत्पाद।
शुभ धनत्रयोदशी पद्मनाभप्रियां देवी पद्माक्षी पद्मवासिनिम् ।
पद्मवाक्त्राम पद्महस्ताम वन्दे पद्मामहर्निशम् ।।
English Translation
I Constantly Worship The Godess Padma, Who Holds Two Lotuse(Padma)in Her Hands, Who Has a Lotus Like Face, Who Resides In a Lotus, Who Has A Lotus Like Eyes And Who is Dear To God Padmnabh (Who Has Lotus in His Naval).
Hindi Translation
मैं निरंतर देवी पद्मा की पूजा करता हूं, जिनके हाथों में दो कमल (पद्म) हैं, जिनका चेहरा कमल जैसा है, जो कमल में निवास करती हैं, जिनकी आंखें कमल जैसी हैं और जो भगवान पद्मनाभ (जिनकी नाभि में कमल है) को प्रिय हैं।

पद्मे स्थितां पद्मवर्णां तामिहोपह्वये श्रियम् ॥
English Translation
I invoke Shri (Lakshmi), who has a line of horses in front of her, a series of chariots in the middle, who is being awakened by the trumpeting of elephants, who is divinely resplendent. May that divine Lakshmi grace me.
